Wausa Medical Clinic to Offer Mental Health Service to the Community

Katie Anderson, CMSW, LIMHP

Beginning in February, Katie Anderson, CMSW, LIMHP will join the Osmond General Hospital team to provide mental health services at the Wausa Medical Clinic on a weekly basis.

Anderson obtained a Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Dakota in Sioux Falls, and is licensed as an Independent Mental Health practitioner. Her work experience includes providing therapy services within an inpatient psychiatric setting, as well as development of educational presentations for frontline works.

Anderson’s specific area of expertise is working with the adolescent population, particularly those who struggle with suicidal thinking or have difficulty regulating emotions. Her philosophy and integrative approach to mental health care can be reflected in the quote notably stated by Desmond Tutu, “There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.” In addition to providing individual therapy services, Anderson is passionate about suicide prevention efforts through crisis intervention, advocacy, and community education.

Katie will be available by appointment at the Wausa Medical Clinic on Thursday afternoons.
